We were new to Queenstown when you Nell and her team came to our house. The exterior cedar cladding was badly weathered in places and quite multicoloured as a result. Our first attempts at matching the existing colour were dismal and we could have ended up with a very orange eyesore. However Nell obtained cedar wood samples and we worked through the test pots to arrive at our new look.

The result is that our home has been transformed to a gorgeous recessive colour which is far more in tune with our surroundings here at Bendemeer. Nell’s team did a great job and were extremely tidy in their work habits. Thank you Nell.

We have recently engaged Nell & Kahlo Painting to update the dated interior of our house. Nell was extremely knowledgeable of suitable products available and able to recommend paints & colours for us. This included a new paint available to transform a formica bench surface, and a wallpaper to make a feature wall. Nell and her team are great workers who take pride in their work. They are professional in their preparation, application, and clean up afterwards. We are thrilled with the results that have really updated our house. I cannot overstate what immaculate professionals all the staff of Kahlo Painting have been on the very large job we have hired them to do. I am a contractor and we are doing a large cedar re-cladding and roof painting, as well as new glazing of 104 windows. Our job was complex, had multiple competing trades vying for the same space, and Nellie and Kahlo staff were completely on time and budget, and graciously juggled multiple challenges with agility. Nellie greeted every challenge with a smile, and achieved everything asked of her. I only hope she will work with us again. As far as I know, she is the best painter in town by a long shot.

Kahlo Painting and Decorating are excellent.  Prior to setting up the company Nell and her offsider Neme painted the exterior of my large, three level weatherboard and concrete block house.  High professional standards were met. Nell displayed real pride in her the work which resulted in a magnificent red front door transformed from an ugly brown stain and even a renewal of the wooden steps leading to the garden.  The finished house is great.  A big job.

The team was punctual.  If running late they would always contact me, were tidy and clean with their gear, took the empty cans away, worked full  hours with lunch on site, gave freely of advice and an added bonus were exceedingly personable. Genuine people.

Nell took on what was later discovered to be a much larger than expected task of stripping decades of over layered wall paper, paints and varnishes to then proceed to brighten up our rooms with some of the brightest colours ever used!  The gift of a feature ceiling in our changing room was wonderful surprise and gesture to the Whānau that use the rooms! A simple suggestion completely transformed our shelving unit, making it look like a new piece of furniture!

I have no reservations in recommending Nell as the best house painter in the district.  Nell made a highly professional job at my new build, the envy of many others building houses.  Nell takes her career very seriously and because of this makes a wonderful job of anything she tackles.  Several of my paint jobs were tricky and she accomplished them professionally and with a smile.   Nell forms amazing relationships with her clients, her colleagues and the many outlets she deals with.  She has a very refreshing attitude to work and this shows in her perfect job every time.  Her communication is excellent and so is her knowledge of product.  It was always a pleasure to work with her and we continue to keep in touch as Nell cares about her last job just as much as the next one.

Every Builder knows that the finished product sells the job. The finished product is the painters responsibility . Poor finishing is unacceptable ,but often the painter is expected to make a silk purse from the sows ear. All will struggle to do this. Given a good finish, Nell (kahlo) will give you the most amazing of finishes. On my last Build with Nell, two interior designers commented separately that the finish was the best they had ever seen from a decorator/ painter.

Nell has the engaging knack of ingraining herself with the clients, mainly due to the passion she exudes about her profession. The Client knows Nell is on their side. That makes My Job easier as the Principal Contractor.
